Alex Huston, Postpartum Doula

Once I had my boys I realized the joy and pain of becoming a mother. I always say it is one of the hardest, most wonderful things you’ll ever do. I have been inspired by the strength of women and their postpartum journey and discoveries to pursue this career.

As a Postpartum Doula I help mothers,  fathers, parents and children. There are many ways I offer non judgment support one is emotionally: by listening, making suggestions that help with the baby / the family, relationships, boundary setting, or just holding space. Another is physically:  coming to the family, helping set up the home for the baby, holding the baby so parents can rest, shower ect, help tidy, and help or teach to prepare nutritional snacks and meals. Another is information: feeding options, healing options,  holistic health information, sleep, techniques and helpful tools. Finally I provide resources for those who need more: pelvic floor physiotherapy, counseling, massage, chiropractic care, naturopathic doctors, sleep consultants and nutritionists etc.

I feel through mothers/parents and their children we can make the mental health of our communities better, strong and more resilient.

As a specialty I am a Breath Control Trainer. I completed The Oxygen Advantage Master Class in London and I have studied Breath Control Therapy. I am passionate about being able to help people become stronger mentally and physically through breath as well. Breath Control Therapy joined with becoming a Postpartum Doula has allowed me to help women as they begin their journey through the monumental experience of motherhood.
